Local author Jennifer Carle will be signing at Greetings & Readings on Saturday, April 10 from 1 to 3 p.m.
After Jennifer A. Carle's beloved dog Winn had to be put down, she was surprised to find that a part of her wanted a new dog. But this new dog would need to be the anti-Winn. This dog needed a different personality, one easier to work with than Winn. So Jennifer found Waldo, a lovable mutt, at the Maryland SPCA.
Waldo stole Jennifer's heart while she was on her way to adopt a different dog. This German Shepherd/Border Collie mix's personality was opposite of Jennifer's: relaxed and laid-back. Or so it seemed. Soon after the two form a bond, Jennifer found that Waldo wasn't acting as calm as before.
Now, like her, he's become a bit neurotic. He bolts out the door and down the street. He nips at the heels of her sons. He barks at anything and everything while chasing it. When Jennifer calls Super Trainer Girl to the rescue, she learns caring for Waldo is much more complex than she imagined, but her efforts are well worth the challenge. In Becoming Waldo: How Being My Dog Would Make Me a Better Human, Jennifer realizes that Waldo has some lessons for her.
A Face of Prozac is one woman’s journey through eating disorders, anxiety, and really, really bad PMS.
A sweet, quirky tale, Finally Winsome follows one woman’s journey as she sets out from the home of her childhood only to return and find companionship with a rescue dog that needed a second chance.
With a warm sense of humor and keen observations about human and dog behavior, Finally Winsome chronicles the challenges facing the new owner of an overprotective dog, and how the roles must change when Winn becomes old and needs protection herself.
